STP Montenegro: UoM Laboratory Facilities Open to the Innovation Community

Today, at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, in cooperation with the University of Montenegro and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the laboratory facilities of the University of Montenegro available to startups, companies, researchers, students, and other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem were presented.

This initiative systematically opens up modern university research infrastructure to the business and innovation communities, with the aim of making knowledge, equipment, and research capacities more actively available for the development of new technologies, products, services, and innovative solutions.

This concept is the result of a strategic partnership between the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, the University of Montenegro, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, aimed at strengthening the links between science, industry, and the innovation ecosystem, as well as at enabling more efficient use of research infrastructure to support the development of new technologies, products, and services.

As a central hub connecting science, technology, and industry, the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is further strengthening its role through this event by bringing research capacities closer to the market and creating new opportunities for the development, testing, and validation of innovative products, services, and technological solutions.

The event featured five state-of-the-art laboratories developed through the collaboration between the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro and the faculties of the University of Montenegro:

  • Laboratory for Research and Development of Medicinal Chemistry and Sustainable Ecosystems

The laboratory was developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Montenegro.

Its capacities are intended for research in the fields of medicinal chemistry, sustainable materials, chemical analysis, environmental protection, and the development of solutions that contribute to the sustainable use of resources. The laboratory supports research and development activities focused on testing new materials, substances, processes, and technologies with potential applications in the private and public sectors.

  • Molecular Medicine Laboratory

The Molecular Medicine Laboratory was developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montenegro.

It is intended for research in the fields of biomedicine, molecular medicine, and advanced diagnostic approaches. Its facilities support research projects focused on the analysis of biological processes, the generation of new knowledge, and the application of advanced laboratory methods in medical and biomedical research.

  • Robotics Research Laboratory

The laboratory was established in collaboration with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Montenegro.

It enables users to develop, test, and improve robotic systems, automation, mechatronic solutions, and advanced technical systems. Its facilities can be used for prototype development, simulations, functionality testing, and the application of robotic technologies in industry, education, manufacturing, and other fields.

  • Electronics and Measurement Laboratory

The Electronics and Measurement Laboratory was developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Montenegro.

It is intended for the development and testing of electronic devices, sensor systems, measurement systems, prototypes, and technological solutions in the fields of electronics, automation, and applied engineering. The laboratory’s facilities can be particularly valuable for companies and startups developing hardware, IoT, measurement, or other technological solutions that require testing and validation.

  • Artificial Intelligence Innovation Laboratory

The laboratory was developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Montenegro.

It supports the development of solutions based on artificial intelligence, data analysis, machine learning, intelligent software systems, and digital tools. Its facilities are intended for users developing AI solutions, software products, data processing and analysis models, as well as digital services with applications in industry, science, the public sector, and other fields.

Making these laboratories available to the innovation community enables access to advanced research equipment for prototype development and testing, product improvement, research activities, and the implementation of joint development projects.

A professional training programme for working in the laboratories was also announced during the presentation. Interested users will have the opportunity to receive training in the use of laboratory equipment, after which they will be awarded a certificate confirming their competence to independently and safely use the laboratory infrastructure.

This initiative represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation between science and industry, enhancing knowledge transfer, and enabling more efficient use of the University of Montenegro’s research infrastructure. At the same time, through the collaboration between STP Montenegro, the University of Montenegro, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, new opportunities are being created for researchers, companies, and startups to develop concrete innovative solutions and put them into practice.
