Public Call for the Granting of Vouchers for Patent Protection and Invention Development

The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is launching a new cycle of support for inventors and innovators through the Public Call for the Granting of Vouchers for Patent Protection and Invention Development 2026, with a total budget of €30,000. It is intended for inventors, researchers, innovators, and companies developing solutions with potential for market application and commercialization.

It is important to know that innovation development does not end with the creation of an idea. Timely intellectual property protection, verification of technical feasibility, and further technology development are crucial steps on the path to the market. Precisely for this reason, this program provides targeted support through two key components:

Component A – Voucher for Patent Protection of the Invention

Component A includes support for national and international patent protection, including patent literature searches, patentability and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, preparation and filing of applications, technical documentation, and patent attorney services.

  • Up to €500 for national patent protection.
  • Up to €5,000 for international patent protection via the EPO/PCT system.

Support is provided through the reimbursement of eligible and documented costs incurred from January 1, 2026, until the closing of the Public Call.

Component B – Voucher for Invention Development

Component B includes support for prototype development and enhancement, laboratory testing, technology validation, testing in a pilot environment, functional demonstrators, and preparation for market validation, including increasing the Technology Readiness Level (TRL).

  • Up to €5,000 per application.

Activities can be implemented up to 12 months after signing the contract. Only expenses incurred after the contract signature, during project implementation, are eligible.

Who Can Apply?

Natural persons – inventors and innovators, business enterprises, universities, scientific research institutions, and other legal entities developing innovations. The applicant must be a citizen of Montenegro or a legal entity registered in Montenegro, as well as the author of the invention or the holder of appropriate rights/licenses for its use and commercialization.

Application is possible for only one component. Within Component A, it is possible to select only one voucher – for national or international protection.

How to Apply?

Applications are submitted exclusively electronically via the STP MNE platform, using the prescribed form and documentation. The call remains open until funds are depleted, i.e., until the Decision on Closure is made. The order of awards is determined by the date and time of receipt of a complete and approved application.
