POLICY ENLARGE

POLICY ENLARGE (R&I Policy Support for Enlargement Countries), a project running from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029, is designed to improve the development, implementation and support of research and innovation (R&I) policies in EU enlargement countries.

Building on the successful results of the POLICY ANSWERS project, in which STP Montenegro was also a partner, this project covers a broader geographical area and directly addresses the emerging strategic needs of the European research and innovation landscape. It aims to accelerate the integration of national systems into the European Research Area (ERA) and the European Education Area, foster sustainable regional cohesion, and prepare candidate countries for closer alignment with the European Union’s strategic and financial priorities.

The project focuses on strategic resilience and accelerating the green and digital transitions, while providing strong support for smart specialisation strategies and inclusive growth. By bringing together national institutions, civil society, industry and academia, the project enables the development of sustainable solutions and lasting cooperation that will continue to have an impact beyond its completion.

The project’s expected results include:

  • Structured policy dialogue through high-level ministerial meetings, thematic workshops and the exchange of good practices.
  • Provision of new Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) through flexible grants intended for collaborative innovation and the application of research results.
  • Targeted capacity building through training in research reform, digitalisation, technology transfer and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Systemic support for the twin transition by fostering green and digital transformation, with inclusive participation across all ten enlargement countries.

Projects such as this demonstrate a strong commitment to integration into European research frameworks and the development of innovative solutions. By creating a supportive environment for networking and knowledge exchange, the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro works to empower and connect businesses, academia and the public sector, enabling them to jointly address contemporary challenges, strengthen overall competitiveness, and successfully advance the digital and green transformation of Montenegrin society.
