Soon, an event that celebrates engineering in Montenegro

As part of the project “Engineers’ Days,” which will take place from April 21st to April 27th, a scientific conference, engineering competition, and workshops for students will be held.

The goal of this project is to introduce young people in Montenegro to employment opportunities, studying, career development, and to spark their research spirit. The event features:

STEMcon (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) – a conference that brings together distinguished engineers, university professors, and company representatives who will give lectures on this field, the position of young engineers today, and global innovations in engineering that are changing the world, as well as interesting facts or inspirational stories from their lives. The goal of these lectures is to inspire young people in Montenegro and show them the opportunities for our society’s development in these fields. Due to current pandemic control measures in Montenegro and Podgorica, the conference this year will be organized as podcast interviews with the lecturers, which will be published on social media, one interview per day.

In addition to the conference, the EBEC engineering competition for students (the largest of its kind in Montenegro) will also be held. Student teams can compete in two categories: case study and team design. Team design involves finding a technical and project solution for a given problem with limited resources, while the case study covers developing a conceptual solution for a corporate or business-related problem. The competition in both categories lasts one day, gathering several teams of 4 members each. The competition will take place on April 24th and 25th at the Technical Faculty building.

The winners will receive free participation in the regional round of the EBEC Alpe-Balkan competition, where they will compete with the best engineers from Skopje, Belgrade, Mostar, Niš, Novi Sad, Sofia, Maribor, Ljubljana, Erlangen, Frankfurt, and Podgorica, as well as numerous valuable prizes. The winners of the regional round will participate in the final round, the location of which will be announced in advance by international BEST.

The event will also include BEST utorial. As part of this segment of the project, workshops will be organized, where training sessions will be held for registered participants, led by prominent experts in the respective fields. Participants will be able to enhance their knowledge and skills in one of two workshops – hard and soft skills. The Hard Skills workshop will focus on “Photographic Postproduction,” and the Soft Skills workshop on “Successful communication models.” BEST utorial will take place on April 22nd and 23rd this year.

Registration for participation in the competition, conference, or workshops, as well as more information about the event itself, can be found on the website www.best.ac.me.

The event is organized by BEST (Board of European students of technology), a non-political student organization that, since 1989, has ensured communication, cooperation, and exchange among European students. It has over 3,800 members in 33 European countries, with a total of 93 local groups. The mission of this organization is to establish communication and collaboration among European students, enabling the exchange of knowledge and experiences, all with the aim of developing their global mindset, understanding other cultures, fostering mutual understanding, and preparing them for further work.

BEST Podgorica is one of the 93 local groups based at the University of Montenegro. More information about their activities can be found on their official Facebook or Instagram page or website.www.best.ac.me.
