Open works on the construction of the first Science and technology park in Montenegro

The future Science and technology park (STP) of Montenegro will be a central hub for innovative individuals and companies, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for research, development, and technological progress. During the ceremony marking the beginning of the park’s construction, Prime Minister Duško Marković emphasized the government’s commitment to this valuable investment, which will enhance the competitiveness of the University of Montenegro and contribute to the country’s overall development.

Marković stressed the government’s determination to support development and prosperity even during challenging times, noting that there would be no hesitation in advancing such projects. The Prime Minister further highlighted the importance of providing young, educated, and talented individuals with the necessary resources to realize their full potential, particularly in response to global challenges. He also noted that funding for scientific and innovative activities would continue at full capacity, with substantial financial support for doctoral students and start-ups.

Science Minister, Sanja Damjanović referred to the STP as more than just a building but as a catalyst for the country’s economy. She acknowledged the generous support of the government and the company Telekom, which contributed 1.5 million euros to the STP’s equipment and services. Minister Damjanović expressed hope that this initiative would attract additional donors and investors.

The rector of the University of Montenegro, prof. Danilo Nikolić, phd, outlined the park’s role in stimulating scientific research, fostering innovative thinking, and encouraging the commercialization of research results. The park’s strategic location within the university campus will allow easy access to highly skilled professionals and foster collaboration between the academic, public, and private sectors.

Executive director of STP Montenegro, Velibor Bošković, described the park as the central unit of Montenegro’s national innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. The park will provide a supportive environment for companies and individuals focusing on knowledge, innovation, and cutting-edge technologies, with a particular emphasis on helping start-ups grow and expand their export activities.

The design of the STP Montenegro building incorporates the latest architectural, functional, and technological standards. With a total area of over 14,000 square meters, it will offer facilities for individuals, teams, and companies to develop, test, and commercialize their entrepreneurial ideas.

This partnership reflects the shared mission to enhance the local economy’s competitiveness through the growth of innovative and technological activities.
