Efficient knowledge transfer from research laboratories to the real sector represents the foundation of every strong innovation ecosystem, and building this bridge requires continuous monitoring of the best European practices.
Recognizing the importance of this process for strengthening the domestic economy, the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro participated in the 19th International Technology Transfer Conference (ITTC 2026) in Novo Mesto, an event dedicated to intellectual property protection and strengthening cooperation between the academic community and the business sector.
Within a specialized session dedicated to scientific papers in this field, the Head of the Department for Innovation Programs and Projects at STP Montenegro, Radivoje Drobnjak, MSc, presented a professional paper titled “Technology Transfer Office in an Emerging Innovation Ecosystem: Institutional Preconditions and Capacity-Building Priorities in Montenegro,” authored by Petra Karanikić, Srna Sudar, and Radivoje Drobnjak. This paper analyzes in detail the development and key role of the Technology Transfer Office in Montenegro, placing special focus on the institutional preconditions and capacity-building priorities necessary for a more efficient flow of innovations from research laboratories to the market itself.
The presentation of the paper was an exceptional opportunity to present our past experiences and current processes in the Montenegrin ecosystem to the international professional and scientific community. At the same time, through an open exchange of ideas and analysis of best European practices, it allowed us to more precisely determine the next strategic steps for the further development of the technology transfer function within our institution.
Participation in the ITTC 2026 conference represents another important step forward in strengthening the capacity of the Science and Technology Park to effectively connect innovators with the economy, thereby directly contributing to a stronger positioning of Montenegro in the European knowledge and technology transfer community.
