The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro continues to strengthen the innovation community and foster an environment that encourages the exchange of ideas. The latest CoffINO event, held on June 12, brought together an outstanding group of participants around a topic that lays the groundwork for sustainable future growth. Organized in cooperation with Game Changer, and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and the Montenegro Investment Agency, the event featured the presentation of the publication “Startup Index of Montenegro 2026.” This publication represents the first structured overview of the domestic startup ecosystem, based on real data and comprehensive market insights. It provides a valuable snapshot of the current state of Montenegro’s startup landscape and serves as an important tool for understanding its strengths, challenges, and future development opportunities.
The report provides an authentic picture from the perspective of the companies that are actively shaping the ecosystem. The collected data reveal how local startup teams secure funding, where the greatest opportunities lie, and which challenges most frequently hinder their growth and development. Moreover, the findings offer a much clearer understanding of what entrepreneurs truly need to achieve sustainable growth, scale their businesses, and strengthen their competitiveness in both regional and international markets.
The importance of such research is significant, as precise data enables the design of more effective support programmes for participants in the innovation ecosystem. Investors gain a transparent view of market maturity, while policymakers receive valuable guidance for improving the overall business environment. At the same time, innovative teams are better able to assess their position and potential in relation to the competition. In this way, data-driven insights become a key foundation for strengthening the entire startup ecosystem and supporting its long-term development.
Regular monitoring of these parameters in the years ahead will enable a reliable measurement of the collective progress of the entire ecosystem, thereby ensuring the stable and sustainable development of Montenegro’s startup scene. This continuous tracking will also support evidence-based decision-making, allowing stakeholders to identify trends early, respond to emerging challenges, and reinforce long-term strategic planning within the innovation community.
In line with the CoffINO event format, the official programme was concluded with an informal coffee gathering together with the tenants of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro. The session provided an open space for dialogue, where key tenant needs and experiences were shared and discussed in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere. This exchange further strengthened communication between the innovation community and the Park, contributing to a better understanding of practical challenges and opportunities within the ecosystem.
Practice once again confirms that it is precisely in such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that the most creative ideas emerge and the strongest partnerships are formed. Special thanks go to the Game Changer team for their excellent collaboration, as well as to all tenants who enriched this gathering with their energy and active participation.
