The Sixth digital summit of the Western Balkans was held in Sarajevo, where discussions focused on the Western Balkans as a region with immense potential for innovation, ranging from the young educational population, a strong entrepreneurial spirit, to the growing community of startups and venture capital firms, but also on challenges including limited access to finance and support for innovation, lack of skilled workers, and the development of a culture focused on innovation. Our executive director, Velibor Bošković, spoke on the panel “Innovation ecosystems in the Western Balkans” about the role of venture capital, angel investors, and crowdfunding in supporting innovation. In addition to the conference section, which featured several key panel discussions, including a high-level panel titled “The Transformative role of digitalization – A Shared Vision and Ambition for the Western Balkans Region,” an EXPO was also held in parallel. This was the exhibition part of the Summit, where leading companies from the information and communication technology sector, including the three Bosnian telecom operators, showcased their work.
