An online workshop was held on the topic of the importance of the blue biotechnology community

As part of the International Earth Day, celebrated on april 22nd worldwide, the Science and technology park of Montenegro organized an online workshop on the importance of building a blue biotechnology community in the Mediterranean.

In collaboration with the Institute of Marine Biology of Montenegro, the workshop addressed the exploitation of marine bio-resources through biotechnological solutions, as well as potential joint actions and the creation of a collaborative environment for the development of innovations in this sector.

At the beginning of the workshop, the director of the Science and technology park, Velibor Bošković, addressed the attendees and expressed gratitude for their interest in the online discussion on a topic of great importance to the biotechnology community.

Additionally, STP project associate Tanja Rakonjac presented the Interreg-Med Programme, Panoramed & Blue Growth & BlueBioMed project, which STP launched in September 2020 as part of an international consortium under the IPA Interreg program.

The project aims to identify, engage, and gather the blue biotechnology innovation community of the Mediterranean to strengthen relations among its organizations within a multilateral coordination framework, addressing both territorial and macro-regional perspectives.

The workshop also featured presentations by STP’s Program Activities Manager Radivoje Drobnjak, as well as Mirko Đurović and Branka Pestorić, scientific associates from the Institute of Marine Biology.
