RuBIO

RuBIO project to encourage innovation and competitiveness of entrepreneurs

The RuBIO initiative is dedicated to supporting innovation and economic development in the rural areas of the Danube region.

The goal of the project is the adoption of bioresource solutions, such as biotechnology and bioproduction, in order to improve the competitiveness of entrepreneurs – from startups and small businesses to larger companies.

The project is aimed at strengthening rural bioecosystems through analysis, overcoming challenges and relying on the latest achievements in the bioeconomy.

Key objectives of the project:
  • Empowering rural entrepreneurs through access to knowledge, resources and networks for the implementation of bio-economic solutions.
  • Addressing demographic challenges, such as a declining and aging population, as well as labor migration from rural to urban areas.
  • Reducing development differences between the western and eastern parts of the Danube region through promoting innovation and supporting local economies.

As part of Priority Area 8 (PA8) of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, RuBIO uses best practices and resources to foster circular bioeconomy and innovation.
