On the occasion of World Bee day, the Science and technology park of Montenegro, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, presented a 3D model of the Carniolan bee, a Slovenian native species. The model, made at a scale of 100:1, symbolizes the importance of bees for the ecosystem, agriculture, and the health of the planet.
The director of the Science and technology park of Montenegro, Valentina Radulović, emphasized the importance of this project in raising awareness about the role of bees and other pollinators, noting that this model is more than a technological achievement – it is a symbol of resilience and the vital role of pollinators for our planet. Radulović highlighted that through such initiatives, STP connects science, innovation, and society, contributes to the development of sustainable technologies, and encourages the application of solutions that have a tangible and positive impact on the community and nature, which lies at the heart of the Park’s mission.
Special thanks go to the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia for the initiative and partnership in the realization of this significant project, which brought together representatives from numerous institutions. The event was supported by the Director of the Directorate for Scientific Research Activities at the Ministry of Science, Marica Melović, the Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences, Božidarka Marković, the minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Northern Development, Damjan Ćulafić, the minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water management, Vladimir Joković, as well as the President of the Beekeeping Organizations Federation of Montenegro, Radule Miljanić.
We extend our gratitude to the Beekeepers’ Association of Slovenia for lending the model and to the company Intereuropa/Zetatrans for organizing the safe transport. We also thank ms. Jelena Bjelica, whose inspiring work through educational lectures on the importance of bees, with the help of the giant bee model, sparks curiosity and raises awareness among the youngest.
From May 5th to May 15th, organized visits to the 3D bee model will be available to children from Montenegrin primary schools, providing them with the opportunity to learn more about this fascinating pollinator and its significance for life on the planet.
