Public call for applications for training on the implementation of circular economy principles in Montenegro

The Science and technology park of Montenegro is organizing a two-part training on the implementation of circular economy principles in Montenegro. The first part of the training will take place from November 18 to 20, 2024, while the second part will be held from December 10 to 13, 2024, in the “MVP” conference hall of the Science and technology park of Montenegro in Podgorica.

The training is intended for researchers from public and private universities in Montenegro, decision-makers, and representatives of the business sector (including company representatives, business associations, cluster associations, etc.). The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is organizing this training as part of the project “R&I POLICY making, implementation ANd Support in the WEsteRn BalkanS,” abbreviated as POLICY ANSWERS, which is funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe research and innovation program.

The main goal of the training

This training aims to provide participants with a comprehensive insight into the concepts and practices of circular economy (CE) through a series of workshops and practical sessions, supporting the development of concrete solutions at the company, industry, and overall economy level in Montenegro. Participants will gain knowledge about key circular economy concepts, strategic frameworks for transitioning to a circular economy, and the role of technology, education, market, and regulatory measures in creating a favorable environment for CE development. The training will also cover the implementation of circular practices in product manufacturing and usage, as well as their application in economic practice. Special attention will be given to the development of financial models, the adoption of best practices from the EU, and an analysis of the challenges and opportunities that the transition to a circular economy brings to Montenegro.

Through practical assignments, individual and group work, and consultations with the lecturer, participants will work on developing concrete solutions tailored to their needs, which may include:

  • circular business plans,
  • assessment of companies’ readiness for circular transition,
  • developing strategies for the transition to a circular economy,
  • designing circular products using life cycle analysis (LCA),
  • developing action plans, financing mechanisms, and regulatory measures,
  • development of project proposals that support the transition to a circular economy.

As a result, the final outcome of the training will be the development of solutions that enhance circularity at the company level, as well as those that support the transition to a circular economy for participants from the public and non-governmental sectors. These solutions, along with the acquired knowledge and skills for applying circular economy principles, will provide participants with a solid foundation for their further professional work and development.

In addition, participants from Montenegro will benefit not only from acquiring knowledge about the best approaches to the transition to a circular economy, but also from the opportunity to network with potential partners within the country.
