Public Call for Registration for Horizon Europe Project Implementation Training If you are from a research institution, university, company, or non-governmental organization looking to enhance your capacity to implement projects within the Horizon Europe program, we invite you to register for a free 4-day training session. The training will take place on June 13, 14, 15, and 16, 2023, in Podgorica. In addition to this in-person training, there will be two days of online consultations with experts in this field. The training is organized by the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro as part of the “R&I POLICY making, implementation ANd Support in the WEsteRn BalkanS,” abbreviated POLICY ANSWERS, funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe research and innovation program. What are the common challenges in Horizon Europe project implementation? Horizon Europe project implementation can face various challenges, including: Financial Challenges: Lack of funds or inefficient financial management can hinder project implementation. Complexity of Administrative Procedures: The program requires compliance with high standards of reporting, monitoring, and project management, which can be challenging for organizations with limited experience or resources. Lack of Cooperation and Coordination: International collaboration and partnership between organizations are essential, and ineffective communication or poor coordination can impede success. Research and Technical Challenges: Many Horizon Europe projects deal with complex research issues, and lack of expertise or inadequate infrastructure can pose a challenge. Legal and Regulatory Issues: Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including intellectual property protection, data protection laws, and ethical issues, is crucial. What does the training program include? The training’s primary goal is to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the entire process of implementing EU projects. Participants will receive detailed guidance on all steps and challenges during project implementation, from contract signing to project completion and beyond. By attending this training, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for successful project implementation, including meeting formal requirements, reporting project results, using software tools for project management, organizing project progress meetings, financial reporting, project auditing, and overcoming administrative barriers. Marija Šola Spasić is a project manager at the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering. She has over ten years of experience and is the National Contact Person for legal and financial matters in Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 programs. She has expertise in grant management and the implementation of numerous research and innovation projects. Prof. Dr. Goran Stojanović is a professor at the University of Novi Sad, with over 20 years of experience in education and 12 years of experience in writing and implementing EU projects worth over 16 million EUR. He has been involved in four Horizon 2020 projects, three of which he coordinates. Who is the training intended for? The training is designed for researchers from public and private universities, research institutions, growing companies, and NGOs that have some experience, are currently implementing, or expect to begin implementing Horizon Europe projects. A total of 15 participants are expected. Due to limited space, priority will be given based on prior experience, knowledge, and motivation for attending this four-day training with an additional four days of online consultations (total eight days). The training will be conducted in the local language. Participation is free (no registration fee).
