Sustainable finance forum 2025 at STP Montenegro – The Future of finance is sustainable

The Centre for Finance, with the support of CKB Bank and media partner Bankar.me, organized the Sustainable Finance Forum 2025 at the Science and technology park of Montenegro.

As part of the STP innovation ecosystem, this forum focuses on ESG standards—business principles that define sustainable development through three key areas. Environmental covers corporate environmental responsibility, pollution reduction, and efficient resource management. Social refers to employee well-being, community engagement, and human rights, while Governance encompasses transparency, ethical business practices, and responsible decision-making.

The conference opened with a welcome address by Igor Lukšić from the Centre for Finance, while the keynote speech was delivered by Remon Zakaria, head of the European bank for reconstruction and development office in Montenegro.

The first two panels were dedicated to the application of ESG standards in business – from analyzing key challenges and opportunities to empowering the banking sector with tools for assessment and reporting.

The role of moderator for the third panel, titled “Sustainability and innovation in the economy,” was held by Valentina Radulović, executive director of STP Montenegro. The focus was on companies that, through the integration of ESG standards, not only reduce their environmental footprint but also enhance operational efficiency. Green technologies, energy efficiency, and the circular economy are shaping the economy of the future, while innovations such as renewable energy sources and advanced recycling systems are becoming the standard in business operations.

The third panel discussion featured speakers Uroš Milosavljević, partner at KPMG Consulting, Ivan Mrvaljević, executive director of the Development and investment division at EPCG, Aleksandra Jovanović Šaban, operations manager at Voli, and Srđan Šišić, executive director for Legal, Regulatory, and corporate affairs at One Montenegro.

The central address at the conference was delivered by Nina Drakić, President of the Chamber of commerce of Montenegro, while the closing remarks were given by Milorad Katnić, executive director of the Centre for Finance.

The Science and technology park of Montenegro, as a center of innovation and development, actively contributes to this process by supporting companies in implementing ESG principles through technological solutions, education, and connections with relevant industry players. Through such initiatives, STP plays a key role in shaping a sustainable business community and creating an ecosystem that fosters responsible and innovative business practices.
