AIROFLY AION Octocopter – Aircraft Prototype at STP

Located at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro is the AIROFLY AION octocopter – a completely new type of aircraft designed and developed in Montenegro.

This is not a conventional drone, but a registered aircraft design that uses Distributed Propulsion Technology (DPT).

It is a developmental prototype, intentionally built with a “rough” finish to allow for rapid modifications and testing of all key systems under real-world conditions.

This real-world testing program will begin in June at Špiro Mugoša Airport, in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro and under the supervision of airworthiness inspectors from the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

AION incorporates several innovative solutions:

  • Dual emergency parachute system (M10, solid propellant)
  • Non-planar design with eight foldable and replaceable motor mounts
  • Two detachable battery modules for enhanced safety and flexibility
  • Integrated wheels for easier ground maneuvering
  • A proprietary operating system developed on the Apple Xcode platform, with capabilities for autonomous flight and remote control

AIROFLY AION represents an example of advanced aviation development originating in Montenegro and confirms the potential of the domestic engineering scene in the field of electric aviation.
