Invitation to the Info Day for the “OpenHack: Code for an Open School” Hackathon

We invite all secondary school students and representatives of secondary schools in Montenegro to join the Info Day for the “OpenHack: Code for an Open School” hackathon, organised by the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro and the Council of Europe.
The event will take place on 21 October 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m., in the MVP Hall on the second floor of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro. Online participation will also be available.

The hackathon is being implemented within the framework of two projects. The first is the joint European Union and Council of Europe project “Quality Education for All”, implemented under the Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye programme, which aims to improve the quality of education and foster a democratic school environment. The second is the project “Prevention of Peer Violence in Montenegro”, implemented with financial support from Germany, which focuses on strengthening systems for the prevention of and protection of children from peer violence in schools. By promoting democratic, ethical and participatory principles, these projects support the active involvement of students and strengthen cooperation between schools, parents and local communities in addressing the challenges faced by schools.

The aim of the hackathon is to foster creativity and engage students from Montenegro in developing innovative digital and other solutions that contribute to the prevention of peer violence, the development of a democratic school culture, and the creation of a safe and supportive school environment. A particular focus will be placed on identifying new ways to strengthen cooperation among students, teachers, parents and local communities, enabling them to jointly identify and address the specific challenges faced by schools and their surrounding communities. Through this hackathon, students will have the opportunity to propose practical solutions and develop partnerships that can contribute to positive change in school life.

The hackathon is organised by the Council of Europe Programme Office in Podgorica, while the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro (STP MNE), based in Podgorica, will facilitate the event. Together, the organisers are working to ensure the successful delivery of this important event.

During the Info Day, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the aims and objectives of the hackathon, which focuses on developing innovative digital and other solutions to address the challenges outlined above. The event offers an excellent opportunity to gain new knowledge, skills and experience, as well as to develop ideas that can contribute to creating safer, more supportive and more democratic schools.
