Marking seven years since the founding of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro represents an opportunity to reflect on its development from an infrastructure project into one of the key drivers of the domestic innovation ecosystem.

Throughout its seven-year development, STP MNE has transcended the role of mere infrastructure, becoming a comprehensive system that accompanies innovators through all stages of their journey—from the initial validation of an idea, through product development and intellectual property protection, all the way to market entry and business internationalization.

In order to connect the scientific research community with the business sector as efficiently as possible, we have paid special attention to the commercialization of knowledge.

To that end, the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) was established as a strategic link aimed at transferring knowledge from academia to business. Its mission is strongly supported by the opening of the PATLIB center “IP4Innovation,” which aims to provide support to innovators, startups, and enterprises in intellectual property protection, the use of patent information, and the secure market placement of innovations.

The process of transforming research results into concrete and applicable market solutions takes place directly through six modernly equipped laboratories, which are dedicated to the development of medical chemistry and sustainable ecosystems, molecular medicine, robotics, electronics and measurements, and artificial intelligence (AI) innovations. They are open to the entire innovation community, and by making this equipment available, along with professional training and certification programs for users, STP MNE ensures that all researchers can work independently on testing and validating new technologies.

Today, STP MNE is home to 46 innovative companies. Since the opening of the building in 2024 alone, over 650 events have been organized, while we have actively participated in 15 strategically important European projects since our founding (eight of which are currently ongoing).

And while we proudly summarize the results after seven years of intensive work, learning, and building partnerships, we express immense gratitude to the community, tenants, our team, and, of course, our partners. Entering a new chapter of development brings stronger dynamics, with the announcement of new, concrete support programs for innovators, entrepreneurs, and youth, through which we will further accelerate the development of the Montenegrin economy.

In this way, we continue to build the vision of a technologically advanced and innovative Montenegro through results and applicable knowledge.
