The Future of the Montenegrin Economy: Empowering Women in Technology and Business

The development of a modern innovation ecosystem in Montenegro is closely linked to strengthening the role of women in entrepreneurship and in key decision-making positions, it was concluded during the Women Leading: Economy, Alliances & the Future of Integration conference, dedicated to the economic dimension of women’s leadership and organized by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Among the panelists—successful women leaders managing some of the country’s most important institutions and business processes—was Valentina Radulović, Executive Director of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro. She emphasized that women’s participation in the labour market and entrepreneurship is no longer merely a matter of social equality, but a strategic imperative for national competitiveness.

During the discussion, it was highlighted that the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, as an important part of the innovation system and a driver of the innovation community, is committed to creating an environment in which innovation becomes a key driver of economic growth. According to Valentina Radulović, the integration of female talent into STEM fields and senior management positions directly contributes to greater creativity and strengthens the economy’s resilience to global challenges.

An innovation ecosystem is not defined solely by modern infrastructure, but above all by a strong community. In this spirit, the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro (STP MNE) is developing as an open and inclusive space where ideas can be freely exchanged and support is provided to everyone who wishes to enter the world of innovation and business. By overcoming the barriers that women in business often face and fostering such an inclusive approach, an environment is created that not only encourages economic growth but also inspires young talents to stay and build their careers in Montenegro.

The final conclusion of the conference was that the future of Montenegro’s economy depends on our willingness to integrate knowledge and talent at all levels, creating an environment in which equal opportunities and excellence become a shared standard.
