The Science and Technology Park of Montenegro (STP MNE) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Montenegro (FNSM MNE) today signed a Cooperation Agreement establishing a framework for the management and use of a specialized laboratory to be located at STP MNE – the Laboratory for the Center for Research and Development of Medicinal Chemistry and Sustainable Ecosystems.
This initiative represents an important step toward strengthening Montenegro’s innovation capacity, creating a modern environment where scientific research is directly linked to the development of concrete, market-applicable solutions. By integrating academic knowledge with industry needs, the laboratory will serve as a platform for developing new technologies, validating ideas, and accelerating the innovation process.
The collaboration is based on strategic commitments to the development of Montenegro’s innovation ecosystem, with STP MNE playing a key role in bridging science and industry. The Agreement also aligns with the Open Access Policy for Research Infrastructure of the University of Montenegro, which aims to enhance the availability of scientific infrastructure and encourage cooperation with industry, the startup community, and research teams.
Through open access to the laboratory, more intensive experimentation and validation of innovative ideas will be enabled, reducing the gap between research and the market. Its particular significance lies in creating conditions for the development of deep-tech solutions, supporting startups and spin-off companies, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
The laboratory, under the academic supervision of FNSM UMNE, will be used for:
The establishment of this laboratory represents a significant step toward enhancing research infrastructure and building a dynamic innovation environment, where ideas are transformed into concrete products and solutions with potential for market application and international competitiveness.
