The European Commission has published the Montenegro Report for 2026, in which, through the assessment of the country’s progress on its path to European Union membership, the contribution of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro (STP MNE) to the development of the national innovation ecosystem is specifically recognized. The document highlights the Park’s concrete results in the fields of cross-sectoral cooperation, the implementation of support programs, international project cooperation, and the strengthening of research and innovation capacities. \n<\/p>\n\n
Recognizing the results of STP MNE in one of the European Commission’s most important documents on Montenegro’s progress represents a significant institutional confirmation of the Park’s role in strengthening innovation capacities, connecting science with the economy, and creating a more favorable environment for the development of innovative companies. \n<\/p>\n\n
The official report emphasizes that the start of the STP’s operations has brought concrete benefits through a significant improvement in cross-sectoral cooperation,<\/strong> noting an 86% capacity occupancy rate by the end of 2025. This result testifies to the growing interest of innovative companies in operating and developing within the Park. At the same time, the European Commission acknowledges the significance of systemic support for the innovation ecosystem through ten dedicated programs, which further confirms the importance of the programmatic, and not just the infrastructural, role of STP MNE.<\/p>\n\n In addition to strengthening the domestic economy, the report also notes a strong step forward on the international stage. The international project activities of STP MNE occupy a significant place in the Report. The European Commission notes the further growth and diversification of the project portfolio, citing the Park’s participation in eight international projects, including the Horizon Europe and Interreg programs, as well as the preparation of 14 project applications for funding from European Union funds and other international sources. An additional confirmation of STP MNE’s significance as a key actor in the national innovation ecosystem is the fact that the European Commission specifically mentions the opening of the Horizon Europe office on the Park’s premises in the Report. This further affirms the role of STP MNE in connecting the domestic scientific research and innovation community with European programs, partners, and funding opportunities. This strategic move directly brings the opportunities of the EU’s largest research and innovation program closer to domestic researchers and entrepreneurs.
\n<\/p>\n\n Highlighting the results of STP MNE in the European Commission’s annual report represents a significant confirmation of the work done so far, but also an additional incentive for further strengthening institutional capacities, developing new support programs, and intensifying international cooperation.
\n<\/p>\n\n In the coming period, STP MNE will continue to develop an integrated support system for innovative companies, startups, and researchers, with a special focus on the commercialization of innovations, access to finance, business internationalization, and connection with the European market.
